SHREVEPORT, LA — Shreveport police have identified a fourth suspect in connection with a violent assault captured on video in the city’s downtown Red River District. Authorities said Rokeya Horton, 43, is now tied to the Oct. 18 attack that left a woman with serious injuries.
The victim suffered a fractured nose, a fractured finger and multiple facial injuries, according to police. The case has drawn attention because the beating was widely shared online, adding pressure on investigators as they work to identify everyone involved and continue making arrests.
Investigators said Horton is the fourth suspect connected to the assault under a bridge in downtown Shreveport. Police did not immediately say what role she is alleged to have played, but her identification marks another step in the case as officers continue piecing together the attack.
The incident happened on Oct. 18 in the Red River District, an area that draws visitors to the city’s downtown entertainment corridor. The assault was recorded on video, and that footage helped bring wider public attention to the case after it circulated online.
Authorities have said the woman at the center of the attack was badly hurt, and the injuries reported so far include damage to her nose, finger and face. Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the beating.
Police said two of the four suspects have already been arrested and booked on second-degree battery charges. Those suspects are Daisia Ruiz, 33, and Marquita Ward. Officials have not provided further details about the arrests, including when they were taken into custody or what evidence was used in each case.
The charge reflects the seriousness of the alleged assault, which left the victim with multiple injuries. With two arrests completed, investigators are still working through the remaining names tied to the case and trying to determine whether more people were involved.
Second-degree battery is among the more serious assault charges in Louisiana, and the arrests suggest police believe the attack rose well beyond a minor altercation. The department has not said whether the suspects are believed to know one another or know the victim.
Shreveport police said they are still searching for 31-year-old Thomas Jordan Bailey. Officers are asking anyone with information about Bailey’s whereabouts to contact the department.
Bailey remains one of the central outstanding names in the case, along with Horton’s newly confirmed connection to the investigation. Police said the search is continuing as they follow up on leads related to the assault and the people believed to have been present.
Authorities also asked for help locating Horton, indicating that investigators may still need to question her as part of the case. No additional identifying details were released beyond the names and ages already made public.
The assault drew broad attention after video of the beating spread online. That visibility appears to have helped push the investigation forward, while also underscoring how quickly violent incidents can reach a much larger audience through social media and messaging platforms.
Police have not said who recorded the video or how widely it circulated, but the footage has become a key part of the public understanding of the case. In incidents like this, video evidence can help investigators identify people involved and corroborate witness accounts.
The fact that the attack happened in the Red River District also placed the case squarely in one of Shreveport’s busiest downtown areas. That location has likely added to community concern, given the public setting and the severity of the injuries reported by police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and that they expect additional arrests. That means the current list of suspects may not be the final one, as detectives continue sorting out the roles of the people they believe were involved.
For now, the department is treating the case as an active criminal investigation rather than a closed arrest file. Officials have not said whether the victim has given a public statement or whether any court dates have been set for the suspects already booked.
Anyone with information about Horton or Bailey is being urged to call Shreveport police. As the investigation develops, authorities appear focused on identifying everyone connected to the assault and building a fuller account of what happened under the bridge in downtown Shreveport.
