Police tape outside a Georgia home where investigators say a woman was found dead in her driveway

Georgia Man Faces Murder Charges After Police Say He Repeatedly Drove Over a Woman and Shot at Her in Donalsonville

DONALSONVILLE, GA — A Georgia man has been charged with murder after investigators say he attacked a woman outside her home, repeatedly drove over her with a vehicle and shot at her before she died in her driveway.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Lamar McDonald, 37, of Donalsonville, is accused in the killing of 35-year-old Dyshena Haire, also of Donalsonville. Deputies found Haire’s body outside her home on Harrell Moye Road around 6 a.m. Sunday, hours after investigators say the assault happened late Saturday night.

McDonald faces two murder charges, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. He has been arrested and booked into the Seminole County Jail.

Investigators say the assault happened late Saturday night

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the attack is believed to have taken place around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities have not publicly detailed what led up to the confrontation or whether the two knew each other beyond living in the same southwest Georgia community.

What investigators have said is that Haire was found dead outside her home the next morning, with evidence pointing to a violent encounter that included both a vehicle and a firearm. The GBI has not released further details about the sequence of events, but the allegations suggest the assault unfolded quickly and ended at the victim’s residence.

Because the case remains under investigation, authorities have not said publicly whether anyone else was present or whether the weapon recovered, if any, has been identified.

Seminole County deputies found Haire’s body at dawn

Seminole County sheriff’s deputies were the first to respond after Haire’s body was discovered outside her home on Sunday morning. The sheriff’s office then asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to take over the homicide investigation.

That outside help is common in serious death investigations in Georgia, especially when local deputies need state-level forensic support. In this case, the GBI said Haire’s body will be sent to its Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, a step expected to help determine the official cause and manner of death.

Officials have not said when the autopsy will be completed or when additional findings may be released. For now, the discovery of the body marks the clearest publicly confirmed timeline in the case.

McDonald is charged with murder and firearms offenses

The charges against McDonald include two murder counts, two aggravated assault counts and a firearm charge tied to the alleged felony. Those allegations reflect the state’s view that the death involved both intentional violence and the use of a gun during the crime.

He was arrested and booked into the Seminole County Jail after the GBI’s involvement in the case. Court records and any plea or bond proceedings were not included in the information released by investigators Wednesday.

At this stage, the accusations are allegations, and McDonald has not been convicted. Prosecutors will decide how to proceed once the investigation is complete and the case is formally referred for prosecution.

The GBI is asking the public for information

Investigators are still seeking tips that could help fill in gaps about what happened before and after the attack. The GBI asked anyone with information to contact its Thomasville office at 229-225-4090.

People can also share anonymous tips by calling 800-597-8477, using the agency’s online tip form or downloading the See Something, Send Something app. Officials did not say whether they are looking for a specific witness, vehicle or other evidence, but any new information could help clarify the timeline.

Public assistance is often important in cases where the victim is found after the fact, especially when investigators are trying to confirm the exact movements of everyone involved during the hours before dawn.

Case will move to the district attorney after the investigation

When investigators finish gathering evidence, the case will be turned over to the Pataula Judicial Circuit district attorney’s office for prosecution, the GBI said. That office will ultimately decide how to present the case in court.

For now, the investigation remains active, and officials have not said whether additional arrests are expected. The available details place the alleged attack in a quiet residential area and leave open questions about motive, the relationship between the two people and the full sequence of events.

What is clear is that Haire was found dead outside her home and that investigators believe McDonald was responsible for the killing. The case now moves through the state’s homicide process as detectives continue to assemble the evidence.
