Tori Hughes is an 8th grader here at the BGJH, and she is the first girl on the football team. She started playing football when she was in 6th grade. She has been playing for the school for 2 years. Tori said, “I wanted to play football for the school to try something different.”. In her football experience, she looks up to Lelan Carpenter because he is a leader.
There are many things that Tori likes about playing football. One thing Tori loves about football is that she loves playing with other kids her age. Tori said, “It gave me a whole lot of discipline and put me in shape.” Coach Hayes doesn’t see Tori any different than the others on the team and sees her as a very intelligent person. Even though Tori enjoys playing football it comes with many challenges.
Tori faces several challenges being a part of the football team. Sometimes she may get picked on for being the only girl on the football team. Coach Hayes said, “She works hard against competitors that are bigger than her.” Coach Hayes says that her strong work ethic helps her on the field. Despite challenges, she still goes and plays hard.
To wrap it up, Tori loves playing football, even though she might have some ups and downs. She doesn’t give up on what she loves, and that is what makes her different. Next time you see Tori in the hallways, ask her some questions about being the only girl on the football team. Maybe you would also like to join the team, but you are a girl, and you think people will look down on you. Maybe she might have inspired you to join the football team if you are a girl here at BGJHS.
