Sigma, skibidi toilet, W or L Rizz, fanum tax, Gyatt, and cooked. Do you know any of these slang words?
Students in BGJHS use slang words because kids our age find a lot of slang words on social media and students start using those slang words to talk with their friends. They then start spreading around the school. Students also use slang words because they need to say something and they don’t want an adult to know they can use slang words for backup.
When it comes to using slang words, some students use them a lot and others do not so much. 7th grader Makenzie said, “I use a lot of slang words in general. I use slang words to talk to people because it’s funny and I use them because my friends use them when we talk to each other. 7th grader Deko Mohamed said, “Not a lot. It’s fun to use them and I think they’re funny to use since kids my age use them and I would like to fit in with my friends so I won’t feel left out.
When it comes to favorite words, some students say skibidi, ohio, or rizz, but the most favorite word is sigma. 7th grader Makenzie said, “My favorite slang word is sigma because I think it’s funny to use since other people use it.” 7th grader Keila Hernandez said, “My favorite slang words are sigma, lowkey, on my soul. I use it because I think it’s funny, cool, and when something is relatable, and I like to cringe sometimes.”
There are many slang words that students hate; some students don’t use them because they are outdated. 7th grader Deko Mohamed said, ‘’That’s dope because barely people use it a lot and it’s not funny and just dumb to use.” 7th grader Makenzie Bullington said, ‘’A slang word I hate is skibidi toilet. I hate the word skibidi toilet because it’s really stupid and childish and it also has no meaning to it.”
Slang words come and go. As a teen, it’s important to keep up with new slang terms.
