As the bus pulled up to Kereiakes Park, students cheered and ran off, eager to start their fun-filled field trip. 7th-grade students went on a field trip to Keriakes Park on October 17th for their first quarter PRIDE Reward for not having any behavior infractions or assignments on the ICU list.
These pride field trips Motivate students to offer good behavior to staff, teachers, and other students. 7th-grade principal Mr. Williams states, “These trips are just a great way to reward students that are always doing the right thing, as well as motivating students. In times in which a student is in a negative situation and a decision has to be made, hopefully, they use that as something that they can think about before they make that decision. Then hopefully make the right decision to stay out of trouble and do the right thing.” This way they are thinking about not wanting to miss the PRIDE trip and make the better choice.
Students love these pride-reward field trips for many different reasons. “It gives me a break from school so I don’t have to worry about any school work.”, Said 7th grader Jocelyn Sledge, “I was looking forward to hanging out with my friends and playing pickleball.” There are so many activities to enjoy with friends and teachers at Kereiakes Park. Anywhere BGJHS takes a field trip, everyone has a great time and looks forward to the next visit.
These field trips can be beneficial for students’ physical and mental well-being. “It can help with their health by moving their body and freeing their minds from stress.” If students aren’t stressed and worried in school, it can impact how they work in the classroom.
As we rode the bus back to BGJHS, lots of us were still lively, yapping about our exciting day. Everyone took home so many great memories of all the fun we had running around and relaxing. Many were eager to go on their next amusing field trip.
