The journey of learning can affect a student’s life, but how can it affect their lives and how far does it go For many students with a passion for strings, this extends far beyond the music room and for students.
8th grader Acey Owmby wanted to help new students in the string class, so she put together some tips. One of the tips she suggested was keeping a consistent practice schedule. Owmby mentioned, “I’ve had a bit of a problem with staying consistent,” but she still suggests the importance of it because of how much practice has helped when she’s had the time, and how much it has improved her playing in strings.
Mr. Case the string director mentioned, “My students are very hard-working, and they are sounding better each day. I’m fortunate to have such great students who are dedicated to making great music and having fun while doing it.”
Mr. Case has been teaching for a long time. Mr. Case shared, “This year 8 teaching strings, and all 8 years have been at the Junior High.” He didn’t think that he wanted to teach/play strings until his senior year in high school. Once he led his first strings class he knew it was the right choice.
As we can see from students’ examples, strings extend far beyond the classroom to improve our students’ lives.
