How would you feel if you practiced for 4-6 hours per week to perform for 2 ½ minutes, to be judged by people’s opinions? Most people don’t know the amount of time and dedication cheerleaders put into practicing for competition routines and ball games.
When the cheer team prepares to go cheer on the football team, most people think that that’s all the cheer team does. But they are very wrong. The cheer team will practice 2-3 times a week for the competition routine, and the cheer team practices at Galaxy Cheer or the Junior High. The cheer team practices from 6 pm–8 pm or after school, which is 3-5 pm.
Preparing for ball games and competitions is no easy task. It requires a lot of repetition, synchronization, and teamwork. 6th grader Lily Anderson said, “To prepare for sidelines, I practice at home and journal, and I also practice at cheer practice.”
