How the Dance Team Made it to Nationals!

Competition on anything is good because it makes everybody better.” -Eddy Cue. That’s exactly how the BGJHS Dance Team feels. When we work hard, we perform the best.

The dance team at BGJHS is led by Coach Hoyt and Coach Cook. Dance takes place after school as well as at football and basketball games. The dance team is made up of some amazing 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with amazing talent that led them to nationals. You can support our dance team by attending football and basketball games where they support the team and put on an amazing halftime performance.

Being on the dance team is an exciting experience for the dancers. 8th grader Eden Yeomans says, “My favorite memory from being on the dance team was during camp when we found out we got a bid to Nationals. It’s a good feeling knowing that your team is good enough to make it, especially when other good teams didn’t make it.”

Being on the dance team requires lots of energy and time. 7th grader Ruby Hetlsley answered, “Being on the dance team requires a lot of energy because when you are moving around a lot and there is a lot of jumping and rolling on the floor, it takes a lot of energy.”

Being a young dancer can be scary, although you should always try your best and don’t give up if you want to make it to a competition level. 8th grader Grace Prather said, “Always try your hardest and don’t give up. I know it might be scary and challenging at times, but always keep trying.”
