“What if you could turn your love for learning into a competitive adventure?”
Academic team members not only enhance their education but also bring pride and recognition to their school. Teams are competitive groups of students who participate in knowledge-based contests. These teams typically focus on subjects like math, science, history, and literature.
Students work together to answer questions, solve problems, and compete against other schools. Most of the student’s favorite activities in academics are quick recalls. Quick recall is where you’re in a team of 4, and when the teacher asks a question, one of the teams has this buzzer, and they have to ring it first to answer the question first.
Mrs. Kemmer said, “Students can compete in written assessments, which are multiple-choice tests, or in quick recall, which is a fast-paced match between two teams of four players each. If their team answers correctly, they are awarded a bonus question for their team to try to answer. The team with the most points at the end wins!”
Participating in quick recall competitions helps students improve their memory, critical thinking skills, and ability to perform under pressure. Academic Team Coach Mrs. Kemmer said, “Students listen to questions being read by a moderator and try to be the first to answer questions correctly.”
