Ready to trade our school mascot for WKU’s Big Red for a day? That’s exactly what BGJHS did on Friday, Sept. 13! Read further to hear about our school’s fun-filled trip to WKU and the purpose of the PRIDE-reward field trips.
Staff and students can agree on the importance of these pride-reward field trips. “I want to continue to acknowledge our students who are doing what we ask and meeting our pride expectations,” Principal Mr. Lightning said.
The quarterly field trips motivate students to have integrity and continue acceptable behavior. 7th grader McKinley Dew states, “It can encourage the students to do good and act better.”
Students enjoy taking pride-reward field trips for many different reasons. “I get to spend time with my friends, like, my school friends, without doing school work,” said 7th grader Kymber Graves. Kymber was also looking forward to “the delicious food.”
As we boarded the bus back to school, many of us were still buzzing with excitement from the game. We may have started the day as purples, but we felt like honorary Hilltoppers for a few thrilling hours. While we couldn’t trade our school mascot for WKU’s Big Red permanently, we took home a piece of that Hilltopper spirit. Who knows? Maybe some of us will be back at WKU in a few years, not just as visitors but as a true Big Red family!
