Band is a fun place where kids, teenagers, and adults alike can express themselves through instruments and music. The junior high band is currently practicing for the upcoming concert and festival. 7th grader Ciin Nuam said, “[In band, we’re practicing] music called ‘Los Banditos’ and ‘Etowah’.” While it can be hard to stay motivated, Ciin says her older brother, 8th grader Pau Khup, inspired her to continue the band. All in all, a band is an interesting and exciting place to share your love of music.
Just like a band, strings can help you communicate better. They choose music based off of the seasons, for instance, in the winter they play Christmas music. 7th grader Brooklyn Upchurch said, “I like to practice in the fall. . .I am motivated by my brother and my grandma who passed away.” There can be many things including people that keep you motivated and Brooklyn has her family as her motivation. Band, string, and choir can help you get to know people better and make new friends.
Choir is a very fun yet challenging class, They are currently working very hard on different songs. 7th and 8th-grade choirs are working toward the all-district choir, which is coming up in April. 7th grader Brooklynn Upchurch says ”We are singing in choir a song called ‘’Gaudeamus Hodie’’ and 3 others.” These songs are very challenging, but they are worth the hard work. The choir can be a difficult class but all of the hard work is paid off on the day of the choir concert, where you get to sing everything you have been working to perform.
In a world of reserved emotions, many people find self-expression through song. Many teenagers in junior high find this in band, strings, and choir. So go to one of their concerts, sit back, relax, and live it.
