Good vs Bad
While skincare is a necessity, young people should avoid certain products. One thing that can be harmful to young skin is retinol. This is because its anti-aging properties can cause burning, scaly red patches. Another ingredient that is bad for your skin is lactic acid. 7th-grader Bridget Russell said, “I used the Byoma toner because I saw it on social media, but after using it for a month, I started getting dry patches on my face.” This happens because it contains lactic acid and has exfoliating properties that can damage your skin. Aside from the harmful products, there are some really helpful ones. 6th-grader Willow Yonts said, “I like the Glow Recipe Dew Drops because they’re super hydrating.” Another great product is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This has helped many people hydrate their dry skin. As you can see, skincare has many good and bad products that can have different effects based on your skincare needs.
Reasons Why
Skincare has become popular, but there are many reasons why people use skincare. One of the reasons people use skincare is because they have acne. Acne can make a person have low self-esteem and not be comfortable in their skin. A second reason why people use skincare is because they have dry skin. Skincare products can help maintain skin hydration, which is essential for healthy, glowing skin. 7th grader Jenna Duggan, a student here at Bowling Green Junior High, said, “My reason for starting skincare is because I started getting a little bit of acne, and my face started getting dry.” Abby Lindsey, another 7th grader, said, “I started skincare because I started having acne on my face, and that’s why I started skincare.” Skincare has gained popularity due to various reasons, such as acne. This can impact self-esteem and dryness, with skincare products helping to maintain skin hydration for healthy, glowing skin.
Popular Skincare Trends
When exploring popular skincare brands, many brands may stand out to you. Some of the well-known brands include ‘Glow Recipe’ and ‘First Aid Beauty’. 7th-grader Alyson Cook said, “Glow Recipe is my favorite skincare brand because it is good for my skin.” Another 7th-grader, Tenley Carrico, also said, “My favorite skincare product is the First Aid moisturizer because it keeps my skin hydrated.” Several skincare brands are known for their quality products and unique offerings on the market. Each brand has its unique selling point, making it essential to explore various options before selecting the ideal one for your skincare needs.
Skincare is crucial before applying makeup for a good base and healthy skin. Despite suggestions from social media for toners, retinol, and serums like Drunk Elephant, they might actually cause harm. It is essential to be cautious and prioritize a solid skincare routine over trendy products to avoid damaging your skin in the long run. Always be mindful of what you put on your face to maintain its health and beauty.
