What does a successful season look like in your eyes? The BGJHS track team looks to win state and district. BGJHS track runner Jett Reynolds says, “Getting first place in state and district.” Another track runner, Lainey Kate Tolbert, states, ” Getting better each race, getting faster, and building my endurance.” The BGJHS track team has already started with a really good start to the season.
How do you and your team prepare before a meeting? Pace Preparing for a meet is very important here at BGJHS. 8th grade track runner Lainey Kate Tolbert tells us how she paces herself: “You just have to start fast and then find a good pace in the middle of the race and then end it strong.”
Who has broken the records for the track, and what are they? There are many records to break in BGJHS. Zyrek Burton broke the 100m record and the 200m record. He broke the record by having a good pace and working hard at practice. Also, there was another record broken, and it was the 4×2 squad run.
How do you keep a good pace for yourself during a race? Pacing yourself is very important so you can win. BGJHS track runner Jett Reynolds states, “I go like 75% the first 300 meters, then the last 100 meters, that’s when I start to kick in and go 100%.” Another track runner, Lainey Kate Tolbert, states, “You have to start off fast and find a good pace in the middle and end the race strong.” The BGJHS track team likes to start strong, find a good pace in the middle, and end strong.
