Have you ever been into something so much that it made you very nervous? The NBA playoffs are an exciting time when the top basketball teams compete to hoist the championship.

The NBA playoffs happen during April and May to determine who the 2025 NBA champion is. The regular season ranking determines who makes the playoffs.

There are many interesting statistics about many different teams in this year’s NBA playoffs. This includes who is favored to win, when these games are happening, and what outstanding stats there are. When we asked 7th grader Dathan Cofer about an underdog who could win, he stated, “I‘ll say the Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards because everybody thinks they are going to lose to the Lakers.” The games started on April 19-20 and will continue through April and May. Now that you know the stats for the playoffs, it is important to know history as well.

There is a long and engaging history of the NBA playoffs with many insane facts. This includes Jordan’s points record and the Celtics-Lakers rivalry in the 80s. During the 1986 season, Jordan’s Bulls and the Celtics faced off. According to essentiallysports.com, “In the playoffs, Jordan was so lethal that he still has the record for most points ever in a playoff game with 63 vs. the Boston Celtics in 1986.” Although there have been some close calls like Donovan Mitchell’s 57 in 2020 or Jimmy Butler’s 56 in 2023, no one seems to be able to beat Jordan’s insane record.

There are lots of teams to pick from when it comes to the NBA playoffs champion. Some have the favorites to win, while others have underdogs coming out on top. We spoke to 6th grader Grayson House about who he thinks will win the NBA championship, stating, “I think it’s going to be the Celtics because they’re pretty stacked.” The Celtics are currently favored second behind the OKC Thunder, although they won the title last year.
