Do you know what Uncle Charlie means in baseball terms?
The BGJHS baseball season is beginning on March 18, 2025, where they will play their first game at Hobson Grove Park against Glasgow Middle School.
There are a variety of things the BGJHS baseball team does to prepare for games. Preparing before big games is really important because it lets your mind digest. It also allows your body to adjust to the weather and lets your body stretch out and get warmed up. BGJHS baseball player Easton Crawford added, ¨I usually pray before the games.¨ BGJHS Baseball Coach Heath Crawford said, ¨I try to help keep the players in a calm mental state of mind where there is no stress or anxiety.¨ The BGJHS team went 18-5-4 last year but came up short in the district title. Let’s hope they can bring it home this year.
There are many goals and expectations for the BGJHS baseball team in the 2025 season. This includes winning the district, winning regular-season games, and improving as a team. 7th grader Easton Crawford said his goals for this year are to “get a higher batting average than I usually do and throw more strikes.” This quote explains what he needs to improve on. In conclusion, this is one of the many goals the baseball team hopes to achieve this year. Some of these goals for the team are to win the district championship this year and improve as players and teammates.
The district championship is the main goal of most middle school baseball teams. To win the district championship, teams need lots and lots of preparation. The BGJHS baseball team came up short in the championship game last year but is back for revenge. The district tournament will be held at the new Bowling Green High School baseball stadium. 7th-grade junior high baseball player Easton Crawford stated, “To win District, we will have to improve and have great teamwork.” Junior high baseball coach Heath Crawford also added, “My main focus is not to win district but to improve the players’ skills throughout the season by learning good mechanics and fundamentals, and to be coachable and great teammates. If our players can do that, the district championship will not come hard to us.” The Purple’s main focus throughout the season is to improve their fundamentals and grow as great teammates. Then, they will focus on the district when they get there.
The Bowling Green Junior High baseball team strives to achieve greatness as players and young men.
