Have you known anybody who impacted your community in many different ways?
On January 21, 2025, the city of Bowling Green lost a great member of the community; Danny Carothers passed away.
Coach Carothers helped many people become better people and players. He helped them by the way he was always honest and encouraging people and his players. When he wasn’t coaching, Carothers was brightening people’s day by giving them compliments. Or he was helping to make the community a better place. 7th-grade basketball player Blake Thomas stated, “He was always encouraging me not to give up that I was getting to where I want to be.” Coach Carothers was always encouraging to players and strangers in the town with many different ways of encouragement
Coach Carothers changed our community the most through his honesty and his courage to help the community out. Carothers helped the most out by helping the kids become better students and players. Coach Carothers was one of the coaches for the BGJHS football team. 7th-grade football player Montana Reynolds stated, “Coach Carothers impacted me as a better person on the football field.” He also stated, “He pushed me to work hard and for school to always come first.” Coach Carothers’ passing was a big loss for this community and for the many teams he helped coach.
The loss of Coach Carothers made a dent in the community because he was always there to help. He was a big help to the football team. Coach Carothers would always be there to help the team get better. The Junior High Head Football Coach, Junior Hayes, stated, ”It’s a huge loss for our community and definitely for our programs, but for the youth of our community because that man was a leader and he cared with all his heart.“ Coach Carothers was a great man not only for the schools and athletics but also for the community.
Danny Carothers impacted the community from being a volunteer football and basketball coach at BGJHS to serving as the head of The Foundry Christian Community Center in Bowling Green, Ky.
