Home-cooked meals vs fast food

There are pros and cons to getting fast food and home-cooked meals, but overall, home-cooked meals can better support you.

In this article, we will discuss the benefits of eating home-cooked meals over fast food, though fast food can be very convenient.

Due to the vast number of options, people face the dilemma of eating out or cooking at home throughout everyday life.

But first, we had to go on a quest to figure out whether people prefer fast food or home-cooked meals. We interviewed 8th-grader Delsyn Hill, who remarked, “Fast food meals have a lot of junk in them, and homemade food is better for your body because.” He added, “You don’t know what they’re putting in it.” Delsyn prefers home-cooked food due to its cleanliness. Home-cooked meals also reduce your exposure to toxins.

Secondly, we interviewed an English teacher, Mrs. Joiner, about whether she preferred fast food or home-cooked meals; she said, “I prefer home-cooked meals; however, I do frequent fast food runs, but I prefer home-cooked meals because they are tasty, healthy, and, when you have time, fun to cook.” Mrs. Joiner prefers home-cooked meals though; she said, “Fast food is certainly convenient when you’re tired and don’t want to go home and cook.” This is very true. Fast food is mostly for convenience when you are too tired to cook or don’t feel like it. Fast food is always the first option.

Finally, we interviewed 8th grader Elliot Simpson, He remarked, “Home-cooked meals are better than fast food because most of the time it’s fresher than fast food, and fast food has a lot of bad ingredients in it.” Elliot says he prefers home-cooked meals because his mom is “a good cook,” to add on, fast food has bad ingredients; a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich has 55 ingredients! That includes over 40 man-made chemicals, which can be a detriment to overall health.

In all, based on our research, we have concluded that our peers prefer home-cooked meals over fast food meals not only because of taste but also because they know that home-cooked meals favor their health.
