Most of the BGJHS students believe that the most popular Christmas song is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. They believe this is the most popular because the song is a fan fave, and every time this song comes on, all lovers sing their hearts out. Also, most people know this song even if they don’t like it. 8th grader Gracie Stevens said she loves this song because “it gets me in the Christmas spirit.”
In the USA, people have BIG opinions. Some of their opinions are about Christmas songs too! 7th grader TK Dotson said, “My favorites have definitely changed, but for the most part I really like All I Want For Christmas Is You because it is a really good Christmas song.” This shows that TK loves this song a lot to sing during the holiday season. 6th grader Vivienne McGill said, “I like to make fun of my voice whenever I sing O’ Christmas Tree.” This shows how different opinions TK and Vivienne have and how these two Christmas songs differ!
A lot of the BGJHS students said that Jingle Bells or Jingle Bell Rock is the most overrated because they think it is way overplayed and the lyrics are cocky. Journalism teacher Mrs. Cook said some people think these songs are very overrated or overplayed because the main verse is very common to sing and some don’t know the second half of the song. This shows how even Christmas songs (the most loved songs) can even have haters!
