People after school do lots of things, like go to the boys and girls club but why should you join the boys and girls club?
At the Boys and Girls Club in Bowling Green, KY, how does it affect people’s lives?
What is the boys and girls club? Boys and Girls Club is an after-school club for kids from 4 to 17. It is located on 260 Scott Way in a trip that’s short and accessible to everyone at this school because of our buses. Boys and Girls Club was created back in 1860, and it has changed so much, evolving and getting new technology. Nowadays, while the boys and girls club is different than it was, that doesn’t make it a bad change. Now the boys and girls club has a game room, basketball court, and even a teen center for 8th grade up and sometimes 7th grade.
The Boys and Girls Club can pick you up when you’re feeling down. You can do so many fun activities, like tie-dye or making slime. You can also see people you normally wouldn’t see. Our boys and girls club in BGKY picks up many students from many different places, like Moss Creek Middle School. Daire Wardlow shared, ”I have lots of friends in different schools from Drakes and Moss and maybe even some other schools.” This shows how you can meet students you usually wouldn’t meet people who can become the person you can rely on or your best friend for years to come. But how else does a boys and girls club affect your life without just giving you a place to hang out?
Well, throughout the years, the Boys and Girls Club has helped with many things, whether it helps you make friends or just gives you a stable environment in general 8th grader Demichle Boyd stated, ”Boys and Girls Club has helped me with providing me entertainment thought the end of the day.” It has food for kids who have trouble with money; it has guidance counselors for kids who just have emotional troubles; and it even has a little calm room named “Chill Ville” for when you need to calm down after a rough day As 6th grader Nemo mentioned, “ Boys and girls club is just a fun place in general.” Not only this but you go to many different rooms for a variety of fun activities like gaga ball or going to the game room to play video games. But if that’s not what you like and you’re more of a couch potato, you can just stay in the teen center and watch a bit of TV to rewind after a rough day.
There are so many benefits to joining a boys and girls club, whether it’s giving your parents time to cook dinner, getting off of work, or even just finding some stability and good friends.
