When do you decorate for Christmas? Is November 1st the start of your holiday season, or do you wait till after Thanksgiving? Students at BGJHS tell us when they decorate for Christmas and why.
Over half of the students at BGJHS who celebrate Christmas decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving. Many students like to decorate before Thanksgiving because Christmas decorations make them happy and they enjoy decorating. 7th grade student Myers Caudill says, “I decorate before Thanksgiving because I love Christmas and whenever you go to the stores there’s more stuff before Thanksgiving instead of after.” We also hear from Layton Tolbert, a 6th grader at BGJHS, who tells us that he decorates for Christmas before Thanksgiving because it is enjoyable.
The rest of the students at BGJHS decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving. Many decorate after because their family is around for the holidays and it is a nice memory to look back on. Mr. Otto, the 6th grade principal at BGJHS prefers to decorate during Thanksgiving break because his kids are home and like to help out with the decorations. Some people decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving because they don’t want to have Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations out at the same time. Lucas Yeargin, 7th grade at BGJHS tells us, “We also host Thanksgiving and we don’t want Christmas trees out for that.”
Many students love decorating. Students decorate with trees, lights, and so much more. Caudill tells us, “I like decorating my Christmas tree by putting tinsel on it, and then I like doing these little Christmas wreaths and pictures on it.” Some people like to decorate with loud and festive decorations. Yeargin tells us he decorates very festively and that he usually puts inflatables in his front yard.
